Subject: DEFERRED ACTION – “A Must See Play” / $15 DISCOUNT TIX

We want to bring Latina/os and diverse audiences to the Wyly Theatre in the Dallas Arts District for the final performances of “Deferred Action”, closing on Saturday, May 14th! Help spread the word about the play that critics are saying is “a must-see play” about immigration reform and the DREAMers movement. Written by Cara Mía Theatre’s David Lozano and the Dallas Theater Center’s Lee Trull, this play speaks to the lives of DREAMers who are fighting for fundamental civil rights in the only country they have ever known.

Don’t miss the production people are calling “relevant, timely, audacious and engaging”!
“Deferred Action

is a must-see play for those who advocate for or against immigration reform. If you enjoy politics, this work provides a surprisingly accurate breakdown of the argument for immigration reform.”
~Obed Manuel
Latina Lista

“…relevant, timely, audacious and engaging. Nobody walks out untouched. This play has muscle.”

“A beautiful piece to watch, and a challenging piece with which to intellectually engage.”

“…an unflinching eye and a razor-sharp tongue.”

The Dallas Theater Center & Cara Mía Theatre Co. present
the World Premiere co-production of
Deferred Action

Written by David Lozano and Lee Trull
Directed by David Lozano

The world premiere of Dallas Theater Center’s collaboration with Cara Mía Theatre Co., Deferred Action focuses on Javier Mejía, one of the immigrants known as Dreamers who arrived in the USA as an undocumented minor. Now, after years in the States, he finds himself caught in the tangle of existing immigration laws, new presidential policies and the harsh reality of living in the shadows. Javier hopes that temporary administrative mechanisms like Deferred Action will be the answer to his dilemma. But will hope be snatched away? Can politicians who say they are the Dreamers’ friends be trusted? Deferred Action follows the lives, loopholes, and dangers of those who dare to dream.
